BOURGOGNE « La Croix Blanche » – Press Review

Jasper Morris reviews 2025 : Rated 88/100– 4 stars rating

Bourgogne la Croix Blanche Vieilles Vignes 2023

Paler in color. This Bourgogne starts light on the nose, then the perfume emerges. Good density on the palate with firm tannins from the clay and a little sandalwood, but one can see the Vosne-Romanée connection. Drink from 2026-2029

Bourgogne la Croix Blanche Vieilles Vignes 2023

Scurrilously drinkable. Far, far too juicy and delicious. Buckets of dark-red cherry, pomegranate, luscious strawberries. When you taste this, you cannot help but think that 2023 must be the year that Dionysus decided to give up his serious job and just go white-water rafting with cocktails in hand. How a dry wine can be this lusciously sweet, I don’t know. It’s like splashing through waterfalls of cherry fruit juice. Don’t let that make you think, though, that 2023 Bourgogne like this is not worth it. The energy contained in a wine like this is palpable. It’s a pick-me-up. I’ve never encountered anything like it in burgundy before. This is a wine to embrace. It tastes of joy. (TC)
