2009: a great vintage year

Vintage year review :

April was beautiful and the flowering started early. July was wet with a lot storms but August was one of the 3 warmer month in 50 years. The Harvest started ath the begining of September. Wines are elegant and well-balanced on the tannin.

Tasting advice:

A wine that you will enjoy young, even if it appears that you can keep it many years.

The Harvest in 2009.

That year in the vineyard…

Saint Vincent in Mâcon, Pierreclos and Chardonnay.

That year in the world…

Barack Obama is inaugurated as the 44th (and first African American) President of the United States. A public memorial service is held for musician Michael Jackson. Bolivia becomes the first South American country to declare the right of indigenous people to govern themselves.

The revelation of the year is Lady Gaga and the biggest surprise comes from American Idol with the interpretation of Susan Boyle (“I dreamed a dream”). In theaters, this is the year of the amazing Slumdog millionaire. Great success for The Reader, The Wrestler and The Dark Knight (with an astonishing interpretation of the Joker by Heath Ledger). But most of all, this is the year of Avatar, the most bankable and disorientable movie up to date.
